Care for young chicks:
We recommend for the first day to have warm drinking water (98). They will drink a lot of water and we don’t want them to cool down too quickly. Put their beaks in the water to teach them to drink as well in the feed to teach them to eat. They will catch on very quickly and will be drinking and eating before you know it. On your heat source, make sure they can get away from it some; it is easy to tell if it is too hot as they will be scattered everywhere and if it is too cold they will bunch up which can cause some to smother. As a guide: Use one brooder lamp per 25 chicks, using a 100 watt bulb, the bottom of the bulb should be approx. 18 inches above them.
